The police have attracted a lot of criticism in recent years for all of the people they keep killing. Some of this criticism stems from the fact that many cops seemingly can’t wait to fire off a couple of rounds, even though they have a non-lethal alternative at their disposal.

This non-lethal alternative is a stun gun, and when cops actually use it instead of “accidentally” firing off their real guns, it can be effective at stopping a criminal.

Notice I said “can be” effective. Sometimes, it doesn’t work, giving criminals the opportunity to pretend they were struck, then continue with their rampage.
