Remember last year when an off-duty pilot took mushrooms then tried to hijack a plane? Well, now he’s back, and he says he’s very sorry about the whole thing.

There are a few things of note from this interview. First, he says he took the mushrooms two days before the flight in question. He claims they were still affecting him come departure time, which is kind of unbelievable (give me the number of whoever sold those to you!).

Second, he describes the whole thing as a dreamlike experience, though he did manage to fire off a message to his wife after he got kicked off the plane saying, “I’ve made a huge mistake.” No kidding.

Finally, he says he’s hoping his own tale can be a warning to others to check in on their mental health, noting that he was in a bad place before the incident and that he had been drinking and not sleeping.

So fellas, check in on your boys — and pilots, maybe leave the mushrooms on the ground, at least until you don’t have to fly for a few weeks.
