Shelley Duvall, the iconic, wide-eyed actress famed for her work in films like The Shining, 3 Women, and Popeye passed away on Thursday, according to a statement from her family. She was 75 years old. 

“My dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend left us," Duvall's longtime partner, Dan Gilroy, told The Hollywood Reporter. "Too much suffering lately, now she’s free. Fly away, beautiful Shelley." 

With a career spanning well over three decades, Duvall's genre-defying talent cemented her as a Hollywood icon, a legacy that particularly resonated with her friend Sarah, who ran several accounts dedicated to both the star's time in the limelight and her later years in her home state of Texas. 

"Shelley will be remembered not only for her artistic achievements but also for her pure spirit, warm personality, and legacy in cinema and network television as a once-in-a-lifetime force in Hollywood," she captioned several photos of the actress, one of which was snapped at her birthday celebration last Sunday. "I will love and honor you forever, Shelley."
